Job Title: SEND Tutor / SEND Lecturer / SEND Support assistant

Location: Telford

Salary: £30,000 - £45,000 per annum DOE

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

Job Outline & Purpose:

  • To build and maintain good relationships with the local authority
  • To provide excellent support and CEIAG to students with EHCPs
  • To deliver a good quality of education to groups of students with SEND
  • To deliver vocational and/or employability qualifications, in line with awarding body requirements
  • To mark, assess and provide constructive feedback on students' vocational and employability portfolio evidence
  • Contribute towards ensuring excellent student attendance & retention
  • To safeguard the welfare of all students, preventing radicalisation and promoting British Values

Training:

  • To organise reasonable adjustments and equipment in line with students' EHCPs
  • To facilitate and support progress towards outcomes detailed in students' EHCPs
  • To plan training and involve teaching assistants in the delivery to meet criteria and standards for vocational and employability qualifications, as well as the students' individual needs
  • To plan and facilitate enterprise/community projects
  • To deliver engaging, effective and innovative group training sessions to high needs students, so that students develop their knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs).
  • To engage external speakers (employers, business people, progression and support agencies) in order to enhance the learning experience
  • Arrange and facilitate motivational visits/activities
  • To ensure that students work skills are developed and that they are ready for working life, or further learning, by the time they leave Juniper

Assessment:

  • To carry out initial assessment activities to identify individual needs, and develop comprehensive Support Plans, to ensure that students are well-supported and achieve their development and learning goals
  • To organise and chair EHCP Annual Reviews; working effectively with other agencies and parents/guardians to provide excellent support to students
  • To mark, assess and map units for vocational/employability portfolios and develop students' spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPaG) skills
  • To conduct and document meaningful student reviews, as per procedures, so that students understand the progress they are making and how they can develop their KSBs further
  • Invigilate exams, as appropriate
  • Apply for access arrangements for students' assessment and exams, in line with awarding body guidelines and requirements

  • Sound understanding of student needs, barriers and effective interventions
  • Knowledge and experience of standards in SEND, safeguarding and E&D
  • To deliver effective training sessions to groups
