The A-Level Economics course offers students a comprehensive exploration of the fundamental principles and theories that govern economic systems. By delving into the intricacies of economic behaviour, students develop critical thinking skills and analytical prowess essential for navigating the complexities of the modern world. This course fosters an enquiring and thoughtful approach, encouraging students to question, evaluate, and analyse economic phenomena, thereby equipping them with a deeper understanding of global economic dynamics.

One of the key strengths of the A-Level Economics curriculum is its emphasis on practical application. Through the study of economic models and concepts, students gain insights into real-world economic issues and challenges. By honing their skills in analysis, evaluation, and decision-making, students develop the ability to formulate informed opinions and solutions to complex economic problems. This practical approach not only enhances students’ academic abilities but also prepares them for active participation in today’s dynamic economic landscape.

Structured into four themes and comprising three externally examined papers, the Pearson Edexcel Level 3 Advanced GCE in Economics A offers a well-rounded and comprehensive curriculum. Beginning with foundational concepts in Units 1 and 2, students progressively delve deeper into advanced economic theories and models in Units 3 and 4. This structured progression enables students to build a solid foundation of economic knowledge while also challenging them to explore more complex economic concepts, thereby facilitating intellectual growth and academic development.

Moreover, the skills acquired through the A-Level Economics course are highly transferable and applicable across various domains. Whether pursuing further education or entering the workforce, students equipped with a strong background in economics possess valuable skills in critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving. From interpreting economic data to evaluating policy implications, students emerge from this course well-prepared to engage with economic issues on both local and global scales. Ultimately, the A-Level Economics course not only enriches students academically but also empowers them with the skills and knowledge necessary for success in an ever-evolving economic landscape.

FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
