As an apprentice warehouse operative you will join our high preforming warehouse team which will see you building new skills, while applying your knowledge to real-world live projects. There will be plenty of opportunities to explore your potential and you’ll enjoy full support from your line manager.

The team/department is responsible for the commercial management of Johnson Controls inventory that is distributed nationally to support our field based engineers. As an apprentice you will be given the opportunity to learn and contribute to a variety of Johnson Controls projects.

What you will do: 

  • Your responsibilities will include managing inbound and outbound deliveries of key equipment for our engineering teams.
  • You will inspect deliveries to ensure all products meet quality standards.
  • Reporting any product discrepancies will also be part of your role.
  • You will manage stock levels and oversee inventory of existing products.
  • You will be trained on how to use our stock management system to monitor stock levels.
  • You will use forklifts to store incoming deliveries.
  • Your tasks will also include outbound order picking, selecting products from stock, and ensuring all products are included in orders.
  • Finally, you will create shipping labels and send order confirmations to customers.

How you will do it:    ? 

  • On-the-Job Work Experience: You'll spend significant time in the warehouse where you will get the opportunity to put into practice skills learned at college in a real world setting.  
  • Collaboration with warehouse specialists: Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll work closely with qualified Johnson Controls Employees who will serve as mentors, guiding you in developing your skills. This collaborative environment ensures that you receive the support and guidance needed to succeed in your role. 
  • You will be enrolled on a Level 2 Supply Chain qualification that you will study alongside your new role. You’ll enjoy the full support of your mentor and our dedicated apprentice training team. 
  • Opportunities for Growth: Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll have the opportunity to grow and apply the skills and knowledge gained in college in a real workplace setting. This experiential learning approach ensures that you develop both technical competencies and practical skills essential for success.

Training and Qualifications: 

  • This is a 2 year degree apprenticeship. You will be enrolled on a level 2 supply chain qualification.

Career Progression: 

  • Upon completion, a number of internal opportunities within the company will be available to you. All of our apprentices immediately move into full time permanent positions. 

Qualifications Required: 

  • GCSE or equivalent in English (Grade 4) 
  • GCSE or equivalent in Math’s (Grade 4) 
  • Full Driving License is desirable.

  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills. 
  • Excellent work ethic and willingness to improve. 

What happens next? 

  • Suitable candidates will have a screening call with a recruiter to discuss the position and provide necessary documentation. Afterward, you will be invited to an assessment center in May, assessment centers typically include a combination of activities such as group problem-solving tasks, individual interviews, and presentations. 
  • Within 48 hours of the assessment center, candidates will receive a response regarding the outcome of their application. If successful, they can begin the apprenticeship on September 2, 2024.
