We are hiring a Desktop Support Engineer to join a well-established Information Technology Services and Solutions company. The company Develops applications for the banking industry and then migrates to a full IT services organisation.

About the Role:

The role is to provide first/second-line support in end-user computing operations, including client hardware, client operating systems (Windows OS), client applications, printing, and network connectivity, following agreed-upon procedures for Incident, Problem, Change, Release, and Configuration Management to defined service levels.

Function

To ensure quality and timely delivery of all 1st/2nd line desktop support services, mainly deskside.

  • To assist in the delivery of IT projects.
  • To deliver desktop /onsite support services at client location.
  • Identifying and responding to calls in a professional manner

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Delivery of 1st/2nd line support activities and duties
  • Desktop/laptop imaging builds and repairs
  • Attend meetings as required based on work being undertaken
  • Escalate quality matters to the Team Leader/Service Delivery Manager
  • Assist fellow team members in identifying solutions to problems
  • Be flexible and be able to work out of hours on occasion when necessary
  • Can analyse, diagnose, and troubleshoot problems within set SLAs
  • Able to work methodically and logically
  • Can communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Exposure to hardware/software builds
  • Exposure to Active Directory on Windows Server 2016 and upwards
  • Some exposure to Office 365, M365 & Defender ATP
  • Networking protocols, including TCP/IP
  • Remote Assistance
  • Windows 10/11 Desktop OS Support
  • Ability to learn quickly and to follow processes

Required Skills

  • 1-2 years in a similar position
  • Good hardware and Cabling knowledge (server, laptop, desktop and printers)
  • Microsoft certification would be an advantage

Job Type: Permanent

Pay: up to £30k per annum

Schedule: Monday to Friday

  • Desktop Support: 1 year (required)
  • Office 365: 1 year (preferred)
  • TCP/IP: 2 years (required)
  • Remote Assistance: 2 years (required)
  • Microsoft Windows Server: 2 years (required)
  • Active Directory: 1 year (required)
