Embedded C Software Engineer

Location of work: Hybrid

Rate: up to £55 per hour, outside IR35

Contract length: 3 months initially

Start date: asap

The role:

A Leeds electronics business who design and manufacture power conversion solutions to operate in extreme environments require an Embedded Software Engineer to join their team. The system uses multiple Microchip microcontrollers/ microprocessors to measure, monitor and switch power at high speed.

Due to the amount of firmware task work to do, they require an Embedded Software Engineer to join the team. You will be largely programming in Embedded C on Bare Metal, but there is opportunity to do some RTOS development.

You will be using PIC microcontrollers as well as Microchip's Cortex based devices.

The product uses a range of communication protocols. Experience with as many of the following would be advantageous: RS232, SPI, I2C, CAN bus, Ethernet, Modbus.

Skills required:

  • Embedded C
  • Bare Metal or RTOS
  • Microchip device experience e.g. PIC and SAM Cortex microcontrollers
  • Serial Communications e.g. RS232, SPI, I2C, CAN bus, Ethernet, Modbus
  • Electronics Knowledge
