IPS Employment Specialist

Job Type Full Time, Fixed Term (16 months)

Location Harrogate. HG1 5PD

Salary £24,020 - £30,790 per annum

Hours: 37 hours per week

The Role

Our Client is seeking an employment specialist to work within The Individual Placement and Support (IPS) team based in Harrogate. The IPS team help to find meaningful jobs for people they support that suit their skills, abilities and experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively promote their clients as potential employees and raise awareness of the service.
  • Promote the ethos of their programmes and encourage employers to look positively on their clients as potential applicants.
  • Create employment opportunities for their clients through proactive engagement with a network of potential employers.
  • Facilitate work placements, work trials and work experience with relevant employers.
  • Provide appropriate in-work support to clients who have secured employment.
  • Work with their Employment Coaches to identify job ready clients and facilitate swift access to local employers.
  • Match clients to vacancies based on their job goals, skills and experience.
  • Build and maintain an appropriate knowledge of the skills needs of employers, and contribute to monitoring any changes within the labour market.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Qualified to NVQ Level 3 in Advice and Guidance (IAG) or Employment Related Services Level 3 (QCF) or equivalent
  • Experience or an understanding of working with people with substance misuse issues, or similar groups.
  • Experience of working with people on a one-to-one basis, offering motivation and support.
  • Empathy with those with substance misuse needs.
  • The ability to build good relationships with a range of different people, from employers to clients.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
  • A passion for making a difference to peoples’ lives.
  • A degree-level education, or equivalent career experience.
