Are you a skilled trades-person or ‘handy man’ with knowledge of Health & Safety standards and experience of dealing with contractors? As a Maintenance Assistant, you’ll balance completing repairs with getting external support to ensure all facilities and environments are fully functioning, safe, comfortable and follows quality standards.

You’ll be working at a brand-new neuro service, The Lakefields, which is due to open early 2024. The smell of fresh paint, everything shiny and new, with a likely list of snags, and as the service begins welcoming patients there are likely to be evolving needs and requirements, so expect to be kept busy!

This social and important role will see you engaging with patients, staff and contractors daily, whilst working alongside the Maintenance Lead to complete necessary tasks and keep The Lakefields in top condition.

You will be responsible for ensuring the service’s facilities are fit for purpose and will regularly conduct audits to identify and repair any faults.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working alongside the Lakefields team, you will turn your hand to all maintenance-related tasks, liaising with contractors to support the upkeep of the service.
  • Maintain a well decorated, safe and comfortable environment throughout the site, in line with quality standards, and follows work processes which comply with statutory regulations.
  • Undertake regular internal and external Health & Safety audits of the site and its grounds.
  • Participate in all aspects of preventative and corrective maintenance on buildings structure and fittings.

To be a successful Maintenance Assistant you will need:

  • Numerical and verbal literacy skills
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • City & Guilds/NVQ in relevant trade background (desirable)
  • Previous experience in a maintenance role and/or building environment.
  • Strong knowledge & awareness of health and safety issues
  • IT literate

The Lakefields Neurological Centre is a brand-new 22-bed service that delivers specialist 24-hour nursing and therapy services for people with complex long-term neurological conditions who require ongoing support and assistance to maximise their functional ability and improve their quality of life. The Centre specialises in neuro-rehabilitation, tracheostomy and ventilator care.

Bedrooms are adapted to individual requirements, fitted with high dependency equipment including ceiling track hoists, wall mounted suction and oxygen equipment. There are also well-equipped therapy facilities, spacious lounge areas and wheelchair access to beautiful gardens.
