To operate the production facilities in a safe and proper way in compliance with cGMP and all other company procedures and practices.

  • To carry out the manufacture and production on site of pharmaceutical intermediates/products according to BMRs, ensuring Environmental, Health and Safety precautions are being adhered to whilst working within the defined production areas.
  • Monitor and check that the Manufacturing Procedures are being completed in full accordance with cGMP procedures and that all the relevant checks are performed in order to verify that the documentation has been performed according to GDP guidelines.
  • To ensure good communications and co-operation, both with fellow Shift Production Technicians and Shift Production Supervisors within the Production Department.
  • Observing legislation relating to environmental protection and safety in the workplace.
  • To co-operate fully with other members of the Production Department to ensure the safe and effective operation of the Plant in compliance with all site procedures and legislation.
  • Transferring raw materials from an isotanker to the plant for further processing.
  • Charging raw materials and intermediates from IBCs and drums to the plant: Here, you're responsible for transferring raw materials and intermediates from Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs) and drums into the plant for processing.
  • Transfer finished products from the plant to an isotanker for storage or transportation.
  • Discharging product to IBCs from the plant: Similar to the previous task, you're transferring finished products, but this time to Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs) for storage or distribution.
  • Transfer the product from the plant (P8) to another location, specifically P7, where it undergoes further processing or treatment.
  • Utilise an online simulator to configure and optimise the plant's operations, ensuring it runs efficiently and effectively.
  • Documenting and completing necessary paperwork related to plant operations, such as logs, reports, and permits in line with process.
  • Operate the plant using the Distributed Control System (DCS), which allows you to control and monitor various aspects of the plant's operation, including starting up, switching between different batches, and managing standby modes.
  • Use the DCS system to monitor the plant's performance, track trends, and make adjustments as needed to maintain optimal operation.
  • Completion of other ad hoc duties as and when required to fulfil the workload of the department.
  • To participate in both 'in house’ and external training sessions, aimed at improving knowledge and understanding within the areas of responsibility.
  • To participate in a variety of interdepartmental activities which may affect and relate to the Production Department.
  • Cooperate and assist other departments as required within the confines of individual training and expertise.
  • Qualifications & Experience
  • Proven work experience as a Process Operator/Technician or similar role, within the chemical, pharmaceutical or manufacturing industry.
  • DCS experience preferred but not essential
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Excellent health and safety knowledge.
  • Qualified to NVQ Level 3 desirable but not essential.
