AQA A-Level Spanish – what you’ll learn

You’ll learn much more than simply how to speak Spanish; you’ll develop the ability to understand different dialects, and you’ll even examine economic, social, and cultural differences between northern and southern Spain. You’ll immerse yourself in Spanish culture, looking at attitudes towards topics such as marriage, divorce, and families. You’ll practise reading, writing, and speaking Spanish, focusing on the topics of politics, immigration, media, cultural celebrations and Hispanic communities. You’ll prepare for your A-Level Spanish exam with well-structured assignments, unlimited tutor support, and the ability to work at your own pace, developing your skills and knowledge to prepare you for your exams.

Study Hours

  • The learning hours for this course are up to 300 hours, which is around 30 minutes per day for 18 months.


Study Method

  • Study completely online using our award-winning learning platform, MyOxbridge.


Course Duration

  • On average, students complete this course in 12 months, but we'll give you up to 24 months. Don’t worry if you go over the year though, we can organise an extension to your course for an additional fee, which also extends your tutor support.


Assessment

  • You can enrol now for examinations from Summer 2025.

    Assessment tasks will be varied and cover listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. You’ll be required to complete three standard A-level Spanish written exams and one speaking assessment.

    Exams

    • Paper 1: Written exam lasting 2 hours, 30 minutes, 50% of A-Level, 100 marks.
    • Paper 2: Written exam lasting2 hours, 20% of A-Level, 80 marks.
    • Paper 3: Speaking exam lasting21-23 minutes, 30% of A-Level, 60 marks.

    We provide a guaranteed exam space in one of our partner exam centres around the UK.

    Assignments

    During your course, you’ll be required to complete various assignments. These do not contribute towards your final grade but provide you with an opportunity to submit work to your tutor for marking and feedback. This will help you to monitor your progress and will be used to produce predicted grades if needed.

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered.
