To achieve the Certificate in Teaching and Learning for Sustainable Development, you will need to achieve 24 credits. There are six mandatory units, each is suitable for people from all industries and you can tailor the course to your area of specialism.

Unit 1 – Understanding climate change and sustainability for educators –3 Credits.

The aim of this unit is to enable the learner to understand how humans contribute to climate change and global instability, the challenges and solutions and policies on action.

Unit 2 – Introduction to Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) –3 Credits

The aim of this unit is to enable the learner to understand Education for Sustainable Development

Unit 3 – Teaching and learning strategies for sustainability and climate change education - 5 Credits

The aim of this unit is to enable learning to assess their own learning environment and produce lesson plans considering sustainability.

Unit 4 – Embedding sustainability in own curriculum –5 Credits

This unit aims to enable learners to understand and be able to embed sustainability objectives into their own curriculum.

Unit 5 – Understand decarbonisation –4 Credits

The aim of this unit is to enable the learner to understand carbon emissions and to be able to evaluate effective decarbonisation options in own and other settings.

Unit 6 – Leading and supporting sustainability in an education setting – 4 Credits

The aim of this unit is to develop learners' ability to apply best practice approaches for a whole-institution approach to sustainability.
