This one-day instructor-led course is designed to give a thorough introduction to the basic skills needed to use Microsoft PowerPoint effectively through a combination of group discussion and hands-on practice. Each section of the course will provide an opportunity to explore the new subject area, followed by an exercise to reinforce learning.

  • The PowerPoint workspace
  • Creating and saving a new presentation
  • Opening, closing and switching between multiple presentations
  • Applying slide auto layouts; adding, deleting and moving a slide
  • Inserting and deleting text into frames: enhancing with formats and effects; changing case
  • Moving and aligning the frames
  • Creating and formatting bulleted lists: changing bullets, indents and line spacing
  • Using the drawing toolbar, creating objects with different fills, line colours and styles
  • Creating AutoShapes and using tools to rotate, flip and duplicate them
  • Inserting text as WordArt
  • Selecting and grouping multiple objects
  • Inserting Clipart and other images: using the Picture toolbar to modify
  • Creating tables to line up text in columns
  • Creating and editing charts to give visual impact to data tables
  • Creating and editing organisation charts
  • Applying design templates and backgrounds to a presentation
  • Applying animation to a presentation: building text and objects; using slide transitions

Requirements

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered.
