What is a portable electrical appliance?

A portable electrical appliance is any item that can be moved and connected to an electrical supply.

Portable electrical appliances will usually have a cable and a plug.

What do we cover?

This course is relevant to most portable electrical equipment used at work.

For example, office equipment like projectors, electric kettles, vending machines, microwaves, and printers.

The course also covers electrical tools like drills, portable grinders, water pressure cleaners, and floor cleaners.

Maintaining the safety of large equipment like vehicles, cranes, and generators is beyond the scope of this course because these items are not considered to be portable.
