Overview

Driving the performance of individuals and teams is a big responsibility. As a manager it can be a real challenge to ensure that a team achieves its objectives whilst recognising and supporting the needs of the individuals within it. This is where this People and Team Management course can help. It offers the training required to cultivate a successful working environment from a people management perspective.

Practical by nature, this management training course will give anyone managing a team the confidence that they are making the most of their people. It provides best practice approaches to some of the key interpersonal challenges that managers face, such as managing different personality styles within a team, communicating effectively and delivering coaching. Learners will leave with the skills that they need to empower their teams for higher performance.

This course can also be taken as part of the CMI Level 4 Certificate in Management.

Should I do this course or your Introduction to Management course?

The level of course content makes this course most suitable for managers and team leaders who have direct reports. It’s particularly useful for managers who seek to put more emphasis on coaching, development and interpersonal skills, rather than the broader range of skills covered on the Introduction to Management course.

One of the biggest barriers to organisational success is a lack of cohesion and consistency in managing and developing performance. This can mean time and resources are wasted as neither the individual or teams are achieving their true potential. This in turn can lead to frustration and a general decline in morale and therefore productivity.
Effective performance management can overcome these issues by ensuring managers set clear objectives, offer appropriate support and direction throughout the process therefore building competence and commitment in staff.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
