Description

This regulated qualification is ideal for those already working or preparing to work within industry wishing to become an Emergency First Aider in the workplace for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (NI) 1982 and subsequent changes including the 2017 updates.

The recommended course duration is 1 day and topics covered include the roles and responsibilities of the Emergency First Aider, assessing an incident, recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness and assisting a casualty who is suffering from injury and illness. The qualification is assessed via on-going oral and/or written questioning and practical demonstration.

The minimum contact hours for this qualification, excluding breaks should be for a minimum period of 6 hours over 1 day as a classroom course. In May 2016 the HSE and Awarding Organisations announced that computer-based blended training is now allowed for all workplace first aid courses.

You now have the option to complete your Emergency First Aid at Work course as a blended course, with 2 hours of online training followed by 4 hours in the classroom. Our blended training allows you to learn the theory at your pace, one to one with your instructor at a time that suits you.

This blended EFAW course meets all of the requirements under the HSE and Awarding Organisations and is available as a ProTrainings or Regulated Qualification.

All successful students will be issued with an Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate, detailing their achievement. The HSE dictate, that to be valid in the workplace, learners must retake the Emergency First Aid at Work qualification before the expiry of 3 years from the date that the original qualification was achieved. The HSE state that the full Emergency First Aid at Work qualification must be taken again to be valid in the workplace. Please contact ProTrainings for further information.

All our first aid courses fully meet the UK and European Resuscitation Council Guidelines 2015 as per the HSE requirements.

The HSE strongly recommend that all first aiders complete an annual first aid refresher course and our online course meets this requirement.

Please be advised that the classroom course has a minimum age requirement of 14.

The content of this and all our courses has been independently certified as conforming to universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) guidelines and come with a Certified CPD Statement as well as a ProTrainings Certificate and for online courses an Evidence-Based Learning statement.

Regulated Qualification Details

This course gives learners the opportunity to gain a formally recognised regulated qualification. If you require funding, a regulated qualification is often required. FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
