The successful candidate will be skilful at pre-project/work-briefings with each client on each project. This person should then be able to execute with a high degree of success in integrating and/or solving problems in environments rich in Windows Server, Exchange, IIS, Cisco Internetworking, VPN's, firewalls, backup systems and more.

Salary: £28,000 - £35,000

Location: Finchley, N3, with a hybrid working option of up to 3 days working from home

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30 am - 6.00 pm

Responsibilities for the 2nd Line Support Engineer:

  • IT Support relating to technical issues involving Microsoft’s core business applications and operating systems
  • Technical support at the network level: WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security
  • Remote access solution implementation and support: VPN, Terminal Services, and Citrix
  • Monitor the remote monitoring and management system alerts and notifications, and respond accordingly through service tickets
  • System documentation maintenance and review in ConnectWise and IT Glue
  • Configuration of standard email clients including Outlook
  • Installation, configuration, troubleshooting and customization of Microsoft Office Suite applications per customer's preferences
  • Understanding of and ability to install, configure and test workstation hardware including video cards, NICs, sound cards, hard drives, and mobile devices
  • Network Server - Experience preferred with Windows Server and Microsoft 365
  • Configure file, print and remote access services
  • Administration, including add/remove users and groups, configure file permissions, check event logs, configure and restore from backup
  • Administration of enterprise email applications, including add/remove users and group, configure folder permissions if applicable, forward mail to other accounts, and add aliases

To be successful, you will need to hold experience within the following areas:

  • Recent experience of working in an MSP (IT Support Company) is an essential
  • Microsoft Operating Systems, Desktop and Server (including Small Business Server)
  • Active Directory, Exchange, SQL, Hyper-V, Office 365
  • Experience with macOS desktop operating systems
  • Excellent Microsoft Office application knowledge
  • Network administration (Firewalls, Shares, permissions, configurations, CCNA, etc.)
  • Experience required with mobile device operating systems
  • Experience with fundamentals of cyber security
  • Understanding of TCP/IP and troubleshooting Internet connectivity
  • Experience with routers and firewalls
  • Experience with RDP, RDS, & Citrix
  • Understanding of relationship between switches, access points, patch panels, and connecting
  • nodes to a network
  • Understanding of DNS services
  • Working Knowledge of non-Cisco Firewall Technologies
  • Working Knowledge of Wireless Technologies

Do you have the required technical knowledge & experience?

  • Engineer with two to four years’ experience as a minimum
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the following:

- Office 365/Microsoft 365

- Switching, VLAN, Routing, Firewalling Support

- Mobile Device and Messaging Technology Support

- Server Hardware Technologies (CPU/RAID/SCSI) Support

- Data Backup and Recovery Support, Corporate Antivirus Support, VPN Connectivity Support

  • Has at least one certification. The following certifications are preferred: MCITP, MCP, CCNA/CCDA/CCNP, Project+, Network+, Apple
