Job Title: CNC VMC Operator

Location: Hythe, Kent

Salary: £12.50 per hour increasing to £13.21 after successful probation

Hours:

During probation: Monday to Thursday 8am - 5pm and Friday 8am - 1pm

After probation: Monday to Friday 6am - 2pm / 2pm - 10pm (rotating weekly)

**Please note this position will include a night shift in the near future**

Our Client:

Is a leading manufacturing and supplier of components for multiple industries. They offer a 360 degree service from design support, prototyping, assembly to the testing of finished products.

Role Summary:

To be responsible for producing components whilst ensuring maximum targets are met in terms of output. The Operator must also ensure that work schedules are carried out in order to satisfy customer demands whilst delivering high quality components.

Key responsibilities within your new role would be to:

  • Set up and operate CNC Vertical Machining Centers (VMC) for production runs.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining operations.
  • Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and materials for each job.
  • Uphold the quality of produced parts in the department.
  • Load and unload raw materials and finished parts into the CNC machine.
  • Monitor machine operations to ensure quality and productivity standards are met.
  • Make adjustments to machine settings as needed to maintain product specifications.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of CNC machines.
  • Troubleshoot issues with CNC machines and make necessary repairs.
  • Inspect work to engineers drawings using various measuring equipment.
  • Program machines using PEPs software.
  • Carry out tool changes.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organised work environment.

Experience and skills required for this position:

  • Working knowledge and understanding of VMC machines.
  • Experience of mazak controls would be ideal, not essential.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • The ability to problem solve.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • The ability to read and understand technical drawings.
  • Be able to use a range of measuring equipment to ensure the accuracy against the drawing.
  • The ability to perform repetitive tasks over a long period of time.
