Job Title: Commissioning Engineer

Location: Home Based - expected to travel within UK and Overseas

Business Area: Rotating Machinery

My client is a global multi-disciplined engineering company who are continuing to grow due to their ongoing success. They have an opportunity for an experienced Commissioning Engineer specialising in Rotating Machinery.

They are looking for a professional, presentable, and courteous engineer who can communicate at all levels and liaise with the Project Manager during project work.

The company provides a range of contracting and rotating machine services, as well as support products. The company demonstrates expertise in the repair and maintenance of motors and generators, and has over 100 years of experience in the industry. The company is an engineering authority with a strategic global geographical presence and works to meet the unique needs of its clients.

Responsibilities will include:

Installation, commissioning and fault finding on new and older excitation, protection and synchronising systems.

Protection relay, synchroniser, transducer and metering secondary injection testing, with the use of Omicron equipment

Commissioning and testing of HV generators and motors

Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and control relay logic

Demonstrable experience to produce clear and professional job reports

Quality Control and Technical compliance in accordance with project requirements. Completing and transmitting inspection check-sheets as required

Compliance with the Safety Management System and client safety rules at all times

Ensuring that all necessary technical reports (or contributions to technical reports) are completed in a timely manner

Support tendering and Project Managers with technical advice and customer communications as and when required

Your skills and experience:

Qualifications: HND/HNC Electrical and Electronic Engineering level or apprenticeship with relevant experience with at least 5 years "in-field" experience

Knowledge of medium and large electrical rotating machines (High Voltage), AC & DC motors and generators

Experience in commissioning & testing: Generator protection, relay testing, AVR & excitation systems, commissioning and start-up, electrical troubleshooting and testing of circuitry

An understanding of high and low voltage testing of electrical rotating machines, such as PD&TD testing, El CID testing, RSO testing, HV Leakage testing would be advantageous

Previous experience with excitation systems such as: Basler DECS-250, ABB Unitrol, GEC Alsthom C10-120 and Brush MAVR / PRISMIC is preferred

Previous experience with protection equipment such as: Basler BE1-11g, Siemens Siprotec, Alstom MiCOM, SEL, is preferred

Be willing to work offshore, BOSIET or FOET trained is preferable although training can be given
