Role Overview: As a Design Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing design and technical teams, ensuring the successful delivery of complex civil engineering projects. Your expertise in design principles, highways infrastructure, and project management will be essential to drive efficiency and excellence in our operations.
Requirements:
- Experience in design or construction of Civil Engineering infrastructure, particularly in the Highways sector
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and applications
- Ideally educated to degree level in a relevant subject; HND/HNC with significant highways experience will also be considered
- Knowledge of design and/or construction of temporary works is highly desirable
- Chartership or working towards it is a plus
- Full UK driving licence required
Responsibilities Include:
- Managing permanent and temporary works designs for live projects and tenders
- Ensuring the design process focuses on buildability and efficiency
- Coordinating design deliverables schedule with designers
- Liaising with tender and project teams to meet design expectations
- Managing design programmes and incorporating them into overall project timelines
- Fulfilling Principal Designer duties as per CDM Regulations
- Providing technical input for tender submissions and live projects
- Introducing improvements and innovations as appropriate
