Our client is a well-established, family-owned business who develop and manufacture a range of products for use in industrial, cleaning, auto-care and wood treatment applications. They are seeking an experienced Development Chemist to join their team to manage QC of raw materials and finished products as well as working on a range of product development projects for customers, including formulation and sourcing of new raw materials.

Key Responsibilities

Development of new products working to customer requirements, to include making lab scale blends, testing product performance and stability, and recording all results clearly.

Preparing lab samples for customer approval.

Re-formulation of current products using new raw materials.

Testing of alternative raw materials in current products.

Competitor product analysis.

Quality Control of raw materials arriving on-site.

Assisting with QA of finished products, to include testing properties such as pH, viscosity, foam and colour, recording results, assisting with re-works when required, and maintaining sample storage.

Assisting with quality investigations into customer / internal issues.

Testing wastewater.

Calibrating lab equipment.

Candidate

Degree or HNC/HND in Chemistry or related subject.

Relevant work experience in chemical manufacturing.

Experience in development of blended chemical products.

Able to test a range of raw materials using a variety of chemical techniques.

Self-motivated, flexible, able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Well organised and able to prioritise.

Keen to work in a hands-on chemistry position.
