We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Financial Controller to join our client who are a leading, privately owned organisation, with a recognised reputation within their sector. Our client has grown consistently in recent years, and now with a strong pipeline of further growth and expansion, they have a unique opportunity for an experienced Financial Controller to join their growing team.

Reporting directly into an impressive Group Finance Director, you will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, and billing.
  • Ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial data and transactions,
  • Manage a small finance team (2), fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment through effective coaching and guidance.
  • Prepare month end management accounts and the full month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting.
  • Perform variance analysis to compare actual financial results against budgeted and forecasted figures. Investigate and explain significant variances, offering actionable recommendations. Unearthing opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Drive improvements in P&L analysis, leading the implementation of enhanced commercial reporting methods that result in more insightful and actionable financial insights.
  • Develop, maintain, and fine-tune budgets, and forecasts.
  • Examine financial data to provide actionable insights, empowering the senior leadership team with decision-making.
  • P&L Analysis: Conduct P&L analysis, dissecting revenue, cost of goods sold, operating expenses, and profit margins. Identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Cost Control: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement cost control measures. Monitor and report on cost reduction initiatives and their impact on the P&L.
  • Business partner closely with department heads, helping to deliver against business plans, highlight commercial challenges and demonstrate confident commercial decision-making.
  • Support the FD with on-going finance projects and system improvements.

Key Skills:

  • Fully qualified - CIMA, ACCA, ACA
  • Strong analytical skills, able to analyse financial data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Driven to develop a deep understanding of the business's commercial operations, pricing strategies, and revenue drivers to maximise profitability.
  • Expertise in cost control, cost reduction, and cost optimisation strategies to improve financial performance.
  • Team leadership skills to lead, motivate, and develop a finance team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.

This role can offer you a fantastic opportunity to develop with this growing business, provding great mentoring from an experienced FD and broad exposure across this growing business. This role is working fully office based. Full-time hours 37.5 hours a week (Monday to Friday), 25 days holiday + bank holidays, plus company bonus, private healthcare and dental.. amongst other great benefits!
