Financial Controller

Transparent is delighted to support this well-established business in the recruitment of a Financial Controller to join the business in a newly created role.

The reason behind the role being newly created is due to growth and further expansion, so it is an exciting time to join and to make your own impact in the role and the company.

Working out of modern offices in Chelmsford and with hybrid working options, your role would be to manage the subsidiary trading companies as part of the wider Group’s finance function.

This is a key role within the business which would lead the month-end reporting process and produce financial information that informs the Board’s decision-making process, and it would directly support the consolidation of the monthly group reporting.

Reporting into the Group Finance Director, your main duties will include:

- Overseeing the financial activities of subsidiary companies to include budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting

- All month-end processes and the production of accurate monthly management accounts

- Reconciliation and analysis of balance sheet accounts and trial balance accounts on a monthly basis

- Management and supervision of finance staff (team of 4), providing any technical or accounting support as required

- Supporting the Group Finance Director in the annual budget setting process and reforecasting on a quarterly basis with the inclusion of actuals

- Producing monthly cash forecasts and highlighting any potential issues to the Senior Management Team

- Ensuring that quarterly VAT returns are submitted in a timely manner

- Developing strong working relationships with other departments to ensure collaboration

- Liaising with external auditors at year-end

- Working with the Group Finance Director to develop efficient systems for continuous improvement

The Person:

- Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)

- Effective management and interpersonal skills, with proven experience in a managerial role

- Strong commercial acumen with good analytical skills

- Organised and self-motivated

- Proactive and committed attitude to your role and the business itself

- Team player
