Initial Referral Officer (Temporary)
Employment Type: Full-Time (37 hours per week)
Hourly Wage: £13.02 per hour
Work Arrangement: Hybrid, working from home and from the Environmental Clean & Green Depot in Brownhills.
Position Overview: As an Initial Referral Officer, you will play a crucial role in our organization by serving as the first point of contact for safeguarding referrals. In this position, you will be responsible for efficiently managing and processing incoming referrals, ensuring that appropriate actions are taken in response to safeguarding concerns. You will work closely with other team members to provide timely and accurate assistance to individuals and agencies reporting safeguarding issues.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the initial point of contact for all incoming safeguarding referrals, whether via phone, email, or other communication channels.
  • Promptly and accurately record information related to safeguarding concerns in accordance with established protocols and guidelines.
  • Assess the urgency and severity of safeguarding referrals, triaging cases to determine appropriate actions.
  • Collaborate with other team members, including social workers and relevant professionals, to ensure appropriate responses to safeguarding concerns.
  • Communicate effectively with reporting individuals and agencies, providing guidance and support when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of all interactions and actions taken in response to safeguarding referrals.
  • Adhere to confidentiality and data protection regulations, ensuring the security of sensitive information.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date with safeguarding practices and procedures.
  • Assist in developing and implementing improvements to the safeguarding referral process to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Strong administrative experience.
  • Specific to the team we would like a person to have an understanding of Adult Abuse and Neglect.
  • To have IT skills which will enable them to accurately and quickly processs safeguarding referrals, in consultation with a line manager.
  • Including MS teams, Outlook.
  • Accurate data entry skills and attention to detail
  • To be able to confidently and professionally liaise with other professionals in line with GDPR.
