Lab Technician

Job location: Guildford, Surrey

Job Salary: £25,000

Job Sectors:biology, chemistry, environmental science

Excellent junior level opportunity within the biomethane production and anaerobic digestion management space to assist the lab manager with operations at their in-house laboratory. The successful candidate will organise or perform, as required, sampling at the plants, perform requested sample analyses in the laboratory, log and report the results.

Key Duties:

  • Assist with laboratory operation and supervision.
  • Organise or perform sampling and ensure samples are collected at the client’s plants.
  • Perform chemical and biological analyses and tests as requested within the expected time frame and in an accurate and safe manner.
  • Log and report the analyses and tests results.
  • Maintain laboratory and biology department database.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment.

Key Requirements:

  • Degree in biology, chemistry, environmental science or related discipline.
  • Laboratory experience during your studies is required. Laboratory experience in a working environment is an advantage.
  • Genuine interest in environmental sciences and laboratory work.
  • Accuracy and excellent attention to detail.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to plan and prioritise complex workloads.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Teamwork skills. Ability to work in a small team environment.
