Pertemps are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Fitter on an ongoing temporary basis, for one of our most renowned clients, who are international leading suppliers in the water technology industry.

Job Purpose:
  • Follow procedures and guidelines to Manufacture/Assemble company products in line with customer specification.
  • Responsible for achieving defined tasks of the production processes by following established work standards.
  • Ensuring orders are completed on time, to the correct customer specifications & company quality standards, working with safety in mind at all times.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Responsible for manufacturing and assembling company products in line with customer specifications.
  • Work alongside and take instruction from Engineers so that all project and Engineered to Order production activities are completed to specification.
  • Read 2D drawings and 3D models (both paper and Catia 3D Models) to be able to complete the mechanical assembly requirements of the project. This will include initial delivery of components, assembly and final inspection.
  • Participate in project testing processes including carrying out pressure testing of finished assembled projects and support the Engineers with full functional tests.
  • Identify and solve any problems or anomalies throughout the project assembly and testing phase, following the correct escalation and documentation processes where necessary.
  • Use machines and standard tools for re-working/re-engineering of components to enable project progression. Tools used may include pedestal drill, band saw, chop saw, grinders and pipe threading machines, milling machine, lathe and fabrication/brazing equipment.
  • Using standard and specialist lifting equipment to ensure safe manufacture and assembly of packaged pump houses.
  • Follow work instructions and predefined rules in respect of safety, quality, delivery and costs standards.
  • At all times follows safe systems of working and follows company manufacturing Health and Safety Policy. Adopt a safe behaviors culture.
  • Contribute and implement lean manufacturing processes and continuous improvement activities.
  • Set-up and operate area-specific equipment (safety check, setting, loading materials into production machines, operating, removing, packing and sorting materials and/or finished products).
  • Proper use and documentation of measurement equipment.

Experience & Qualifications:
  • 2 to 3 years of relevant work experience in production.
  • Ideally Qualified to Level 3 in Mechanical Fitting.
  • Previous work experience in a lean manufacturing / production environment.
  • Good planning and organisation skills and is able to work to deadlines.
  • Knowledge of production processes, activities and best practices.
  • Able to demonstrate contribution to problem solving and continuous improvements.
  • A self-motivator is required able to work on their own initiative whilst also being able to work as an effective part of a team.
  • Good inter-personal skills, including excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience of reading drawings (2D drawings and 3D models) would be beneficial
  • Experience of using lifting equipment and work tools
  • Ability to operate equipment controlled via computer touch screens, have basic computer skills.
  • Contribute in production on various tasks and in respect of the standards (safety, quality, delivery and costs).

Hours of work: 8am to 4pm Monday to Thursday and 8am to 1pm Friday with opportunities for overtime.

Hourly Rate: Up to £16.71ph (Depending on Experience)
