Salary £20,705 - £21,248 per annum

Hours: Monday - Friday. 32.5 hours per week, 45 weeks per year

Key Responsibilities

As the Physical activity and Liaison Coordinator, you will bring their pupils' experience to life! You'll orchestrate engaging activities, collaborate with fellow schools for enriching visits, and facilitate guest tours at their esteemed Foundation. Partnering with their People Team, you'll nurture their work experience program, shaping future talent. Plus, step in as a supportive SEA cover when needed.

Physical Activities Coordination

  • You will gain accreditation to train colleagues in physical activities and carry out risk assessments for the Young People.
  • Liaise with teacher and department managers to create physical activity timetable.
  • Timetable, plan and deliver physical activity sessions, such as rebound therapy, table cricket and football and ensure there is a variety throughout the week.
  • Monitor the physical diet of each individual pupil
  • Contribute to pupils’ annual report and feedback on physical progress and activities that the young people have taken part in over the year
  • Liaise with parents and carers over access to and range of physical activities
  • Collaborate with therapists to ensure safe access to physical activity
  • Direct teaching assistants to support pupils during physical activities
  • Liaise with local and national para-sports governing bodies to expand the remit of sports delivered to students.
  • Facilitate an after school program of suitable events and activities.

Inclusion and Liaison

  • Maintain an International Link and keep the school community updated
  • Organise and arrange informal visits by outside agencies and promote Chailey Heritage School to the wider community
  • Support families through informal visits, CHS and CCS assessments, supporting the transition as required and when instructed by Deputy Headteacher
  • Promote links with local mainstream schools including presentations at assemblies and delivering PSHE sessions to classes.
  • Liaise with local schools and universities who wish to place students for work experience at CHS and work with the People Team to coordinate work experience with CHS teachers.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential:

  • GCSE Maths and English as a minimum (Grade D or above, or equivalent).
  • Currently hold, or willing to achieve, appropriate qualifications to facilitate sports and activities
  • Has a basic understanding of the care and support needs of people with physical disabilities and respecting them as individuals.
  • Experience of working with children and/or adults with disabilities
  • Able to support children and young adults to participate in a range of activities.
  • Adept at working with IT systems and applications.
  • Currently be or have the ability to become manual handling coordinator
  • Effective communicator both verbal and written.
  • Able to undertake daily manual handling of children and young adults, including pushing wheelchairs, standing frames and use of other equipment.
