Service Care Legal are currently working alongside a thriving Local Authority, based in North Yorkshire, which is in need of an experienced Highways and Planning Lawyer to join their team.

Role: Planning Lawyer

Location: Doncaster, hybrid working

Contract Length: 3 months ongoing

Rate of Pay: £50-£55ph umbrella

The Role:

This company is seeking a highly skilled Planning Lawyer to provide legal support and advice across the Council on matters relating to Town and Country Planning, and Highway related issues. As a Planning Lawyer, you will be responsible for the delivery of legal advice and support in the following legal specialism.

  • Town and Country Planning
  • Highway Law (including footpaths)
  • Compulsory Purchase.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for the delivery of legal advice and support in the legal specialisms of Town and Country Planning, Highway Law (including footpaths), and Compulsory Purchase.
  • Provide high-quality and timely legal advice to the Council, its officers and elected members.
  • Conduct advocacy before any Court, Tribunal, Inquiry or internal Board/Panel.
  • Conduct all work in accordance with internal policies and procedures, including the effective use of a case management and time recording systems

Qualifications:

  • They are looking for someone with 2-3 years PQE or above in Planning Law
  • ideally with experience working with a local authority in the Highways and Planning department
  • Someone who has a good understanding of Section 106
