RSR Housing are currently recruiting on behalf of our client based in South Somerset for a Prison Resettlement Worker

The purpose of this role is to deliver a person-centred, wrap-around outreach support service, actively case-working complex needs and vulnerable housed individuals to prevent rough sleeping amongst prison leavers. Working closely with the organisation’s existing supported housing services in the Sedgemoor area, to manage referrals into the service and the completion of assessments, where required.

This is a full-time, 9-month FTC (potential for extension), offering a salary of £24,500 per year.

This role will be based in South Somerset and entails travel to other areas within South Somerset.

Main Duties:

  • Engaging proactively with Housing Team and Registered Providers and Private sector landlords to identify appropriate short- and long-term housing interventions enabling access and sustainment of accommodation, other housing providers, Probation service, Police, drug and alcohol services, mental health services, primary care and well-being support services, employment, training and education services to maximise positive outcomes for clients.
  • Engaging proactively with HMP Bristol, HMP Eastwood Park, HMP Leyhill, HMP Cardiff HMP Exeter and other prison resettlement services, to establish effective partnership working and provide pathways of support for people who are at risk of homelessness upon release.
  • Assessing, planning and enacting person-centred packages of support, which promote alleviation from homelessness and access to accommodation, recovery from substance misuse, health and well-being, independence, comply with statutory orders and reduce the risk of offending.
  • Keeping full and accurate records, producing statistical and analytical information for monitoring purposes and carry out all necessary administration in relation to case work carried out.

Essential Requirements:

  • Probation, Social work, Community support worker Diploma/RMN/ CQSW/CSS/Dip SW or OT.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system, prison leaver resettlement and or Housing Options process.
  • Experience in working with people who are involved in the criminal justice system.
  • Working with complex need people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
  • Arrest Referral / Custody Liaison experience.

Role is subject to DBS check at the relevant level.
