Job Type: Full-time, Temporary. Hybrid working.

The Greater London Authority are looking to recruit a Major Events and Volunteer Manager to join the Civil Society and Volunteering team on an interim basis, which is currently delivering the Summer Visitor Welcome programme. This role is crucial in deploying volunteers across the city, a key deliverable in the Mayor’s volunteering programme. The successful candidate will have a strong background in volunteer management and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Lead on the management of volunteering programmes and activities supporting London as a host city for major events and as a tourist destination.
  • Manage volunteer recruitment, ensuring practices are inclusive and represent London’s diversity.
  • Develop new events volunteering programmes in line with Mayoral and partnership priorities.
  • Implement agreed projects, manage external commissions, and ensure delivery within budget, time, and quality standards.
  • Prepare briefings, reports, and responses to Mayor’s questions and other correspondence.
  • Analyse information on civil society support to inform policy, working closely with stakeholders.
  • Support communications on policy issues related to volunteer deployment.
  • Build and maintain stakeholder relationships to assist in the delivery of the Mayor’s civil society-related policies and programmes.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven understanding and experience in volunteer management
  • Strong skills in monitoring, evaluation, and impact measurement of volunteering.
  • Ability to manage programme activity and contribute to corporate processes and briefings.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in managing resources.
