Tradewind Recruitment presents an exciting opportunity for a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to become part of the team at a secondary school in Islington, starting in September!

Start Date: September 3rd, 2024 Contract: Full-time Working Hours: 8:15 AM - 4:15 PM Salary: £85-95 per day

In this role, you will provide additional support to students with various special needs, assisting them within the classroom setting. We are searching for individuals with Teaching Assistant experience and a collaborative team spirit.

This school, located in Islington, boasts modern facilities and a supportive team environment. It has been rated as "good" in its recent Ofsted inspection, with a leadership team dedicated to continual improvement. The school offers convenient transport links and a small on-site parking area.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist students in accessing the curriculum, adapting materials and resources as needed.
  • Collaborate with teachers and professionals to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
  • Provide one-on-one support during classroom activities, ensuring student engagement and progress.
  • Monitor and record student progress, offering feedback to the teaching team.
  • Foster positive social interactions and relationships among students.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant preferred.
  • Genuine passion for working with students with special educational needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and empathetic in challenging situations.
  • Willingness to undergo training related to students' medical needs.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet evolving role requirements.

To be successful in this role, you should ideally be a graduate or have previous experience working with children or young people in a school setting. Additionally, you must have an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable), and provide professional references covering the last 10 years of employment history. Legal right to work in the UK is essential.
