Zachary Daniels are pleased to be working with a nationally recognised retailer seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Buyer to join their passionate team.

Role Overview: As a Senior Buyer specialising in fast paced retail products, you will play a pivotal role in driving their retail success through strategic purchasing and supplier management. Based in their South West London office, you will be responsible for sourcing high-quality products, negotiating contracts, and collaborating closely with suppliers to ensure their merchandise meets the highest standards of quality and value.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimise product selection, pricing, and availability within the category.
  • Identify new suppliers and maintain strong relationships with existing ones to ensure a diverse and reliable supply chain.
  • Negotiate favourable terms and contracts with suppliers to maximise profitability while maintaining quality standards.
  • Analyse market trends, consumer preferences, and competitor activities specific to the category to inform purchasing decisions and drive sales growth.
  • Work closely with internal teams, including merchandising, inventory management, and marketing, to align procurement activities within the category with business objectives.
  • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance within the category, addressing any issues or discrepancies to ensure consistent product quality and availability.
  • Stay informed about industry developments, regulations, and best practices to continually improve procurement processes and drive innovation.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a senior buying role for a large scale retailer, ideally with a focus on fast paced categories.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a track record of successfully securing advantageous terms and contracts within the category.
  • Excellent analytical and strategic thinking abilities, with the capacity to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Highly organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Flexibility to work 4 days a week in their South West London office.
