Role Overview

We have an opportunity for a RTPI (or soon to be qualified) Planner to join our London Corporate, Commerical & Education Planning team.

Typically, your role will involve managing your own workload, assisting the Associate Directors & Directors, undertaking planning research and enquiries, drafting reports and planning submissions (site assessments, policy notes, applications, appeals, development plan representations and so on). Assisting with the management of the team’s project instructions and its business development activities.

Our teams have a highly successful record, working for public and private sector clients including developers, landowners, funders, local authorities, housebuilders, education and health institutions on some of the most exciting building projects currently being undertaken in the UK. We offer a combination of planning, urban design and environmental assessment skills. Our planning skills combined with our commercial awareness and local knowledge ensures that we are best placed to advise our clients on making their plans become reality, working alongside our colleagues across Savills in departments such as development, energy and infrastructure, licensed leisure, property management, commercial agency and rural.

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Prepare planning appraisals of land, buildings and concepts.
  • Undertake research and analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation of planning applications, including planning statements.
  • Write reports, interpreting data and making clear and relevant recommendations.
  • Contribute to the preparation/editing of Design & Access Statements and other planning supporting documents.

   Key Skills

We are looking for a candidate with an interest in broadening their experience of planning and being closely involved with interesting projects and clients. Key requirements are:

  • MRTPI, RTPI accredited degree and/or experience gained in existing role at planning consultancy, local authority or developer.
  • A proven ability to multi-task, across many projects, helping to progress the team’s workload, managing projects capably – and reporting to directors, associate directors and associates in this team.
  • A willingness and enthusiasm as a team player.
  • An enjoyment of writing, with excellent language skills and ability to effectively communicate planning arguments.
  • Knowledge of the UK town planning and governmental systems.
  • Strong verbal, numerical and report writing skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills – prioritising and working to deadlines.
  • A ‘can do’, hands-on team player.
  • Good interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Full driving license and access to your own car for day to day business requirements

Team Overview

 The Corporates, Commerical and Education Planning Team has 14 team members ranging from Director level to graduates, whihc sits within the wider London Planning team. The team has a strong pipeline of projects for a wide variety of clients – including Anglian Water, BAE Systems, Dandi Living, Eton College, The Oxford Science Park and Whitbread. Savills is the largest planning consultancy in the country and is committed to further expansion of its successful London Planning team alongside its leading development, residential and commercial markets teams.
