They serve a diverse clientele, including asset managers in private equity, venture capital, credit, infrastructure, and real estate, along with public and private companies, financial institutions, and other entities involved in complex UK and international matters.

The Department:

  • The tax department ranks among the largest in UK London law firms in terms of both personnel and revenues, representing around 10% of the firm.
  • They are highly regarded for their advice to private equity, venture, credit, infrastructure, and real estate funds, particularly in private equity transactional tax.
  • Additionally, they possess significant expertise in tax structuring relating to infrastructure investment, capital markets, finance, and real estate.

The Role

  • We expect Associates to effectively communicate with both internal and external clients to explain relevant tax issues and assist in finding appropriate solutions.
  • While tax advisory services are a core strength, they also focus on real-world implementation.
  • The Lawyers possess a thorough technical understanding of tax legislation, policy, and an awareness of our clients' commercial objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advising on a wide range of tax matters, including M&A, Finance, and Real Estate transactions, with a focus on Real Estate Tax.
  • Managing matters with light-touch supervision.
  • Providing tax advice on private M&A transactions and related structuring from the perspective of various stakeholders.
  • Advising corporate clients on tax matters related to financing transactions, real estate transactions, restructurings, and management equity incentives.
  • Providing tax advisory services on IPOs, fundraisings, and capital market transactions.
  • Collaborating with other sub-groups within the Tax team, such as Asset Management and Incentives and Remuneration groups, as required.

Person Specification

  • Outstanding academic record.
  • UK Qualified Solicitor, preferably with experience at a City law firm.
  • Experience in transactional tax (M&A, Finance, and Real Estate) corresponding to PQE level.
  • Substantial Real Estate Tax experience is advantageous.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proactive approach and good transaction management skills.
  • Team player who excels in a collegiate environment.
  • Commitment and engagement with the firm's culture.
