Bhav Kotecha is really excited to recruit for a Tax Manager on behalf of a very profitable and successful firm. The industry they are in is highly attractive and sought after and a very rare opportunity locally in Northampton with hybrid working.

Hybrid role with 1/2 days in office and 3/4 days remote can be a Part time basis of 3/4 days or Full time

The company is UK's leading in its sector and they seek someone that has experience of all aspects of Group Corporate tax reporting including compliance, tax computations and tax planning.

You will have relevant and strong experience in preparing year-end tax computations and filing of returns for all Group subsidiaries (approx 40 companies) ensuring all reporting and submission deadlines are met and all available reliefs are maximised and captured.

Role

  • Experience of all aspects of Group Corporate tax reporting including compliance, tax computations and tax planning
  • Role will provide advice and recommendations on intercompany settlements and dividend declarations across the Group as well as general day-to-day administration of our bank accounts.
  • VAT accounting and reporting and managing employment taxes including P11d and PAYE Settlement Agreement calculations.
  • You will be the 'go to' person within Finance for tax queries and will be expected to keep abreast of current and emerging tax legislation both general and company specific on all areas of tax accounting and planning.
  • Reporting into the Group Reporting Manager, you will be expected to develop and maintain the company tax strategy and be responsible for all company communication with tax authorities and other Group stakeholders

Key Tasks

Corporation Tax

  • Preparation of year-end tax computations and filing of returns for all Group subsidiaries (approx 40 companies) ensuring all reporting and submission deadlines are met and all available reliefs are maximised and captured.
  • Corporation tax and deferred tax provisioning calculations together with supporting schedules. This will include Group relief calculations, capital allowances and Corporate Interest Restriction calculations.
  • Ownership of the tax notes for Group and individual statutory accounts. Provide relevant explanations to external auditors as part of the annual statutory audit.Periodic calculations to estimate the quarterly Corporation Tax instalments due to HMRC using the latest financial information available and recent changes to the CT legislation.Highlight areas for discussion/ potential areas for consideration by the Board relating to tax. Provide recommendations on strategy and exposure and prepare papers on the Group's position.

VAT

  • Ensure quarterly VAT returns for all of the VAT registrations are prepared and submitted within deadline
  • Periodic calculations to verify the monthly Payments on Account requested by HMRC
  • Ad-hoc assistance with VAT queries (internal and external).

Employment Taxes

  • Assist with the preparation of P11Ds, Class 1a and 1b returns
  • Preparation and filing of the annual PAYE Settlement Agreement.

Treasury

  • Daily management of entity bank balances to ensure adequate funds available in the correct entities.
  • Regular review of intercompany short term and long term borrowing position to be the most effective method of financing across the Group, in particular, ensuring the year-end short-term intercompany position across the group does not pose a going concern trigger.
  • Preparation of Treasury Paper on intercompany balances and dividend distributions

What you will bring

  • Qualified CTA or ICAEW or ACCA or CIMA, with relevant UK Corporate Tax experience
  • Breadth of experience in all areas of tax (corporate, staff and indirect).
  • Practical experience of using a CT software tool, eg Alphatax
  • Good Microsoft Office skills in Powerpoint as well as Excel and Word
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the business
  • Hands on type with desire to own area of responsibility and improve procedures/ processes
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, evolving business and adapt to the reporting requirements accordingly
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritise workload.
  • High level of attention to detail, desire to get things 'right first time' and inquisitive mindset
  • A team player who has the desire to 'make a difference'.
